YA(another!)FAP

Wow. I was really having a bad run this time, though for doing that I almost doubled the points score of my previous number one slot:

2122016 gitsnik-Wiz-Elf-Mal-Cha died on the Plane of Air.
Killed by an air elemental, while helpless (with the Amulet). 

So, the short and dirty. Another Wizard, another Elf. I found no less than 6 bags of holding (including sokoban) and knocked over roughly 11 wishes. This was a really bad fucking run though. I wished up my usual assortment of armour, I stored all my spare bags of holding bar two (one for pirate lootz and one for ascension stuff) in a sack and went along my way. I slugged my way through mine town, I found my luckstone, I ignored the lawful priest next to Izchak (whom didn't die despite his fellow workers doing the same thing later on) and fought my way down to the quest. I got all the way down there to be level 13 once again, so I stood near the portal and cast create monster until I reached level 14.

I wrote a few spellbooks on the way and picked up some teleportitis. I finally reached the Dark One's lair, and ate about 30 tengu's along the way to no avail. I got lucky though (for the only time I think) when a tengu showed up right next to the dark one whom I managed to eat and YES, teleport control. I smacked the dark one down, I shot back to mine town, found some more spellbooks (finger of death especially) and got my attack spells down to 0% chance of failure. I picked up some intrinsics, sacrificed a priest corpse to convert the altar, then got my Magicbane. I also got a couple of good swords, Dragonbane was one, Ogresmasher was in there as well. I headed down and made it all the way to medusa's isle before realising I had no chance of getting across. I needed levitation so I wouldn't have to swim.

Trudge my way back to mine town figure I'm going to try sacrifice a few corpses and hope for a good death drop. Maybe something to polymorph with and got amazingly lucky when I quaffed a potion of extra healing for the HP bonus: A wish out of a djinn. blessed rustproof ring of levitation. Stashed in my bag of holding with all my other gear. On my way back down I started to run out of space in my inventory, so I figured I'd stash some equipment in my bag of holding. I must have been holding down the shift key accidentally because when I went to put "w - A wand of lightning" into the bag, I put in "W - An uncursed bag of holding". A giant magical explosion, a giant FUCK from me was yelled out. And I lost most of my ascension kit, including all my backup rings and the coveted ring of levitation.

I'd already cleared out everything above Medusa, I had searched every single nook and cranny and dug out almost all of the walls in my search for loot, so no point looking around again up here. I swam my way across to the middle of the screen to say hi to Medusa, stood as far away from her as possible so I could be as safe as possible, then finger of death'd her from a distance. Lucky because all I had at that point was reflection/magic resistance, and I'm not sure that's enough to survive medusa's gaze.

I trecked down to the castle, chewed through it from the front (slowly) and got my wishes. Picked up a few extra bits, a cornathaum is essential for me in the valley as I don't like to read spoilers so having a map around is useful. I genocided a few monsters (h and L) to be safe, and wrote some more spellbooks with the second magic marker I had found (the first being lost earlier). I dropped accidentally into the valley of the dead, so hopped back up and looted the store rooms. I was putting items in other items and cleaning up my inventory when I managed to stash a sack full of backup loot (including my spare bags of holding) in my new ascension run bag of holding.

FUCKING FUCK FUCK!

Things were fairly uneventful from here on. I didn't die or anything until Orcus Town (more on that later) and I managed to pick up some duplicate spellbooks and get things like magic mapping and force bolt back. Late in the piece I would lose Identify as I simply couldn't find anything to replace it with, but for now it wasn't a big problem.

I cleared out maybe 3/4 of the bottom floor looking for tools and magic items, then stood on the vibrating square and made sure it was marked. I headed upstairs and cleared out the zoo and the beehives and what not before preparing to smack the wizard. I level ported back up to the only altar outside of the mines and prepared a few sacrifices, I finally got crowned, and then headed back to where I belonged. I killed the wizard, opened the floor, smacked the priest and stole his amulet.

I'm not sure why or how I came to the decision (probably something to do with a pissy Orcus who I accidentally tried to teleport after previously sneaking past him with a Charm Monster spell. Whom killed my 4 amulets of life saving the bastard) but I was in hell, and I prayed. Strangely, Moloch didn't take to that too kindly and when the lightning bounced right off me, he sent a wide angle disintegration beam at me. I've never had one of these before so it was quite a show, but it disintegrated my blessed fireproof greased +5 cloak of magic resistance. The cloak I had started with and the only one I had seen all game.

At this point I was ready to give up, but I stopped for some dinner with the girlfriend and thought about making the rest of the ascension run. I decided I might as well - see how I went. I only had one scroll of gold detection so I would only be easily getting through the plane of Earth unless I felt like slugging it through everything trying to find what I needed. Which I never do.

I got to the plane of air, and this is where I pretty well lost it. I would either be starving from a supremely fast hunger rate (all the amulets and rings and spells etc.), or unable to move, or generating conflict or regenerating or whatever. I killed a few air elementals and some dragons. A djinn. I got all the way into the cloud, but couldn't keep away from the elementals messing with me. I died on the plane of air, carrying the amulet beaten to death by an air elemental after I copped a bolt of lightning which paralysed me.

Once again, damn that was fun. And I will be playing it again.
